One of my favorite things to do is to take a walk around the neighboring trails where I live. It quiets my brain and gives me a sense of space and perspective. My aim as an artist is to transfer that feeling of sacredness from the natural world to the viewer through paint. Throughout the process of painting, I am responding to what is emerging on the canvas. The interaction and reaction often leads to the landscape revealing itself in surprising ways. The natural world constantly amazes me and I never get tired of observing and looking for new ways to see the environment. Using color, texture and atmosphere, I hope to replicate that feeling of mystery and awe.
